Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions regarding energy choice, supplier switching, and brokerage operations.

Your Local Utility (e.g. Oncor, ComEd, PECO, ConEd): Owns the physical power lines, poles, and transformers. They deliver electricity to your building and fix outages.

Retail Energy Supplier (REP): Generates or purchases wholesale electricity and natural gas on the power market.

Lift Energy USA: An independent licensed brokerage firm. We do not generate power ourselves; instead, we analyze your utility bill and run a competitive auction across 60+ top suppliers to negotiate the lowest rate and optimal contract terms on your behalf.
No. By state and federal law, utility companies are strictly prohibited from discriminating against customers who purchase energy from competitive retail suppliers. You will receive the exact same response time during storm outages, and your meters will continue to be maintained by your utility as always.
None whatsoever. Requesting a bill review and receiving rate comparisons from Lift Energy USA is 100% free and carries zero obligation. We are compensated by suppliers via standard brokerage commissions only when you choose to execute a contract.
In almost all deregulated markets, you continue to receive ONE single consolidated bill from your familiar local utility company. Your utility simply prints the lower negotiated supplier supply rate on the 'Generation/Supply' portion of the bill and forwards that payment to the supplier.
Once you approve and sign your chosen supplier contract, the administrative enrollment is completed electronically and takes effect on your next scheduled utility meter read date (typically within 15 to 30 days). No technician visits your property.
